About Me

Hello and welcome to The Stark Nest! It’s so nice to meet you!

A little bit about me – my name is Leah and I am the creator of The Stark Nest. I live in Michigan with my husband Rob and our cat, Sammie. A few of my hobbies include yoga, reading, cooking, home decor, and traveling. When I’m not blogging, I can usually be found working on some sort of project around the house or experimenting with a new recipe in the kitchen. I’m always looking for new ways to improve our home and everyday life.

The Stark Nest

The Stark Nest is a home and lifestyle blog that focuses on teaching you how to turn your current house into your dream home, no matter where you’re starting from. Whether you live in a tiny apartment, an old fixer upper, or a new construction home, I want to help you make the most of it.

When thinking about what it means to live in a “dream home”, there are many different factors that come into play. Beautiful design and decor are part of it, but they aren’t everything.

How about things like – gathering around the table for a home cooked meal, curling up on a cozy couch next to a fire, or unwinding in a peaceful and calming bedroom retreat at the end of a long day – these are all perfect examples of elements that really turn a house into a home. You don’t have to live in a mansion, make tons of money, or be a professional designer to have your dream home.

Sometimes it feels like what we are longing for will always be just out of our reach. If only our house was just a little bit bigger, just a little bit prettier, if we just weren’t so busy, or if we just had more time or money, then we could have the home and life that we really want. Does this sound familiar to you at all? If so, you’ve come to the right place. I started this blog because I want to help you get to that point that always seems to feel just out of reach for whatever reason.

It Starts In The Home

To me, home is the most important place in the world. It’s a foundation for us and our families. It’s the place we come back to each and every day. We live, grow, and gather here. It should be a place of security and happiness, an escape from the rest of the world, not a place that causes us stress.

At the same time, I also know how confusing and overwhelming it can be trying to manage a home. You want your home to look nice and run smoothly, but it’s often easier said than done. You may feel like you have no time, no vision, no design skills, or are simply overwhelmed by all of life’s other responsibilities to even begin to worry about these things. Trust me, I’ve been there.

I strongly believe that when you have your home in order, everything else in life starts to fall into place. You’ll feel more organized, more put together, more rested, and happier overall.
