Well, we finally did it. After living in our house for almost two years!! we finally bought dining room chairs. It was the first tiny step checked off our list of home improvement plans for 2018. Just to give you the full before and after effect, here’s what our set up looked like until now –
Really, really bad. I honestly don’t know how I was able to stand it for so long, but finally I decided that it was time to spend the money on proper chairs. You can see what a huge difference it makes!
And something about having nice chairs made me want to set the table. I had tried numerous times in the past to do pretty tablescapes and place settings, but they always felt incomplete surrounded by those awful folding chairs. Now that we have these gorgeous new tufted dining chairs, setting the table is a breeze! I finally understand how to throw together a simple tablescape and make it look elegant. Really, for a long time I thought I just didn’t get it, like I just didn’t have the knack for decorating a table. Turns out it was just the chairs! Problem solved!
I thought long and hard about what dining room chairs I wanted. I kept going back and forth on whether or not I wanted something more rustic farmhouse like these chairs or more glam like the ones we have. It wasn’t until I finally started figuring out my personal decorating style (another post for another day) that I made the decision.
The next issue I had when choosing dining room chairs was the price. I wanted good quality, but some of the high end stores are charging $300 and up for one chair! Ummm no thank you. I needed six chairs, and there was no way I was about to drop thousands of dollars on them.
So, I turned to Wayfair. This post isn’t sponsored or anything like that, I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is thinking about ordering from them. I had been eyeballing a few things from Wayfair for a while, but had been hesitant to order because I wasn’t able to see the items in person, and I was worried that the quality would be poor. But I really wanted dining room chairs, so when I found these pompon tufted side chairs on sale and read plenty of good reviews, I decided to go for it.
The chairs were fairly easy to assemble. My husband had all six of them put together in under an hour. Overall, I love them! Are they the best quality chairs you are ever going to find? No, but I wasn’t expecting them to be. They are lightweight yet sturdy, stylish, and comfortable. We had a couple of small issues with ours (there was a crack in one leg and a lump in one of the seats), but Wayfair didn’t give us any trouble getting replacement parts. I just submitted an online request, and within two days we had the replacement parts at our door. Most of all, the price couldn’t be beat. I bought these chairs on sale for $183.99 for two chairs! That’s only $92 per chair, which is a lot easier to swallow than $300. I’m in love with the chairs and also in love with the price!
I will definitely consider ordering from Wayfair again. My advice would be to read the reviews on any item you’re thinking about buying, and if you do notice any defects or flaws when it arrives, don’t be afraid to contact Wayfair for a replacement.
What do you think of our new chairs? I can’t believe how much they have transformed our dining room already, which was desperately in need of some love. Where else do you like to shop for budget friendly furniture?
